Water (moisture) in vapour form present in the compressed air
cannot be removed by the Moisture Separator and Filters. It can be removed by
two methods - by cooling the air further to lower temperatures by using cooling
media such as refrigerant ( Refrigeration Air dryer) or chilled water/ brine
(Compressed Air Chiller Dryer). These Dryers can achieve moderate dryness of up
to 600 ppm ( moisture equivalent to ADP of -20oC).
For better dryness, a Heat less Air Dryer can be used which can
give dryness up to 80 ppm (ADP of -40oC), which is accepted as instrument air
quality. These two types of Air Dryers cover virtually all industrial
applications. Special Air Dryers can also be designed for achieving moisture
content below 80 ppm. |
